Wheaton North Summer Reading 2012: Catching the Fire
Read a book. Fill out a form. Win a Kindle Fire.
To encourage students to continue the reading habit over the summer, the Wheaton North English Department is giving away Kindle Fires, parking passes, Homecoming tickets, and more to students who read a book and fill out our online reflection form (found below). For each book read and form filled out, students will receive one raffle entry into a drawing that takes place at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. Winners will be announced on the Falcon Weekly during Homecoming Week.
If a student reads a book from one of the recommended lists below, he or she will receive two raffle entries. Read as many books as possible; there is no cap on the number of raffle entries one can earn. Advanced-level English students can fill out a reflection form for their required summer reading.
The Wheaton North Summer Reading Program encourages an appreciation of reading that extends across all curricula and encourages independent readers to become life-long learners.
How can parents encourage their students to read this summer?
Read one or more of the Summer Reading books—they make great conversation starters!
Keep reading material around the house—books, magazines, etc.
Ask your student to read to younger siblings and family members.
Take your student to the local library or bookstore.
