Students Compete in Summer Games
On Saturday, June 13th, District 200 students Sam Anderson (Wheaton North), Christy Kosirog (Wheaton North) and Abby Rusin (Transition Program), competed in the Special Olympics Summer Games at Eastern Illinois University. The three athletes earned the opportunity to compete based on their performances at a qualifying meet earlier in the season.
Summer Games is Special Olympics Illinois' premiere sports competition with more than 4,000 athletes and Unified Partners competing in 6 different sports, along with 1,600 coaches, 2,000 volunteers and 3,300 family members. A variety of activities are provided for the participants in addition to the sports competitions.  
Sam competed in the Softball Throw and 200 Meters and earned a Bronze Medal in Softball Throw; Christy competed in the 100 Meters and softball throw and earned a Silver Medal in 100 Meters; and Abby competed in the 50 Meter Dash, earning a Bronze Medal. Thank you to Rebecca Blacharczyk, 'Coach B,' for her support of our athletes at the Summer Games. 
District 200 Coaches are Amy Freeman, Gianna Costa and Patrick Trofimuk. Student Coaches include Julianne Blatner (Wheaton North), Peyton Cecil (Wheaton North) and Hannah Gray (Wheaton North).

Summer Food Assistance
Children need good nutrition throughout the school year. If you, or someone you know, are concerned about feeding your child during the summer, you can call 1-800-359-2163 or visit for assistance locating free and nutritious food. Local locations for food assistance include Outreach Community Center, Village Brook Apartments, The Renaissance Apartments as well as Currier Elementary School in West Chicago.

On July 8, the Board of Education approved the posting of the Tentative 2015-16 Budget. A Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the School Service Center for public comment.
