DISTRICT 200 SPONSORS SPRING PARENTING SEMINARS

Community Unit School District 200 and its social workers are sponsoring a series of free parenting seminars at the Wheaton Park District Community Center, 1777 Blanchard Road, during the month of April. These small workshops are designed to address the unique needs of parents in the community.  Parents of any age child will gain new and useful information, skills and strategies in parenting; be able to talk with other parents who are trying to manage similar situations; and reduce parenting anxiety and feel more confident about making decisions.

The first seminar, “Birth Order: Understanding Your Family Constellation” is scheduled on April 13 from 12-1:00 PM.  Dr. Michael Maniacci, Clinical Psychologist, will discuss how birth order influences child development.

On April 20 from 12-1:00 PM, District 200 Social Workers, Donna Kozica and Gary Luckey, will examine the way adolescents transition through middle school, high school, and beyond and how parents can help in the process.

Dr. Patrick McGrath, Director of Alexian Brothers Anxiety Clinic, will lead the final seminar, “Anxiety and Your Child” on April 27 from 12-1 PM. He will review how anxiety affects children and adolescents and what strategies parents can use in assisting their child.

To register, call 682-2165.  For further questions, call District 200 Social Workers, Donna Kozica at 682-2165 or Gary Luckey at 784-7208.
