Elementary Mathematics Textbooks on Public Review

The Board of Education has posted for public review two sets of mathematics textbooks for kindergarten through fifth grades. The posting follows a three-year renewal of the elementary math curricula and a review of ten mathematics textbooks, two of which were selected for piloting by a group of 31 teachers this fall. The two piloted series are Everyday Mathematics and Houghton Mifflin Mathematics. After reviewing feedback from the pilot teachers, other staff and the public, the Administration will make a recommendation to the Board of Education on which series to adopt. Both series are aligned to and support the newly revised curriculum.

Both the curriculum and the textbooks can be reviewed in the School Service Center and the public libraries in Wheaton, Warrenville, Winfield and Carol Stream. The Board will consider comments on the curriculum and the textbooks prior to acting on the recommendations on December 8.
