October 17-21. You're invited to come browse through the many titles on display at the PTA Book Fair in the Longfellow Library. Popluar books for all ages. Please check your monthly newsletter for exact hours, as the times vary throughout the week.
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 and Thursday, Oct. 20 in the evenings and an alternate conference night being offered Wednesday, October 26, all beginning at 4:00 pm.
Longfellow School's Halloween parade and parties will be held on Monday, October 31. The parade will begin at 1:45 pm with parties to follow at 2:00 pm.
Please remember our school policy on appropriate costumes when deciding what your child will wear to school. Student costumes may not include masks, weapons, or blood.
This year we are asking that parents not send children to school in any clown costumes for Halloween. Although there have been no substantiated reports of threats to any schools in District 200, students are aware of the "scary clown" phenomenon that is being reported in the media and through social media. Thank you for your help in creating a fun atmosphere for all to enjoy the day.
The Longfellow School Veterans Day Assembly will be on Friday, November 11. This is a wonderful time of recognizing our veterans and thanking them for their service. Longfellow families are able to invite relatives or friends that are veterans to attend a breakfast reception at 9:15AM and to attend the assembly at 9:45AM. More information will come your way prior to the event.
As you may know, during the holiday season, the Wheaton faith community supports families who are in need. Last year, close to 1,000 families received help during the holidays. As a school, we also support the efforts through our donations of food, gifts and household items.
This year, Longfellow School will have a Giving Tree. Interested families can take an ornament from the tree and provide a corresponding gift. Gifts can be dropped off at school anytime before December 2nd. We ask that gifts be left unwrapped and have the Giving Tree tag attached to the gift.
The Giving Tree will be set up in the Longfellow vestibule during Parent Teacher Conferences and throughout the holiday season. (As always, there will be other ways to give as the weeks get closer to the holidays too.)
