Age
for School Entrance
Students must be five years old on or before September 1 of the
school year they enroll in kindergarten. They must be six years
old on or before September 1 of the year they enroll in first grade.
The District does not have an early entrance policy for kindergarten
students; therefore, the September 1 cut-off date is strictly enforced.
Students who successfully complete a state accredited kindergarten
program outside of the District may be allowed early admission to
first grade.
When
to Enroll
As soon as you know which school your child will be attending, you
should contact the school to begin the enrollment process. This
early contact will give staff time to prepare for the arrival of
your student and to place you on a mailing list to receive important
information about school services and activities. The high school
and middle school offices are open year round. Elementary school
offices are closed in the summer and reopen the first week of August.
Transfer
of School Records
Parents should request the transfer of school records if their child
has attended school in another district. Record transfer forms are
available in all schools and should be completed early so that the
student's records will arrive in the new school with ample time
for staff review prior to the student's arrival. If the student
currently attends an Illinois public school, the records will include
a form indicating if the student is in good standing.
Student
Fees
The Board of Education assesses registration and participation fees
for all students. A list of fees applicable to your child's grade
in school and activities will be provided to you at registration.
A fee waiver is applied for eligible students.
School
Attendance Areas
The Board of Education has established attendance areas for each
school. For information about which school your child will attend,
please contact the District at (630) 682-2000.
Bus
Transportation
Free busing is provided to students who live 1.5 miles or more from
school. Free busing is also provided to students who live less than
1.5 miles from school if their walking route to school has been
determined hazardous by official Board of Education action.
For more
information on the enrollment process, please call the District
at (630) 682-2000.
