5th Grade

Ancient Egypt Quilt Project

Wiesbrook fifth graders are working with Pat Mahler on making an Egyptian hieroglyphic quilt.  They are designing a hieroglyphic based on an assigned alphabetical letter.  The pencil sketch is transferred to muslin squares using a permanent black marker.  Each square will then be colored and then sewn into a finished quilt.

Mrs. Mahler read a book to help the 5th graders get some ideas.

Getting the drawing right takes a lot of time and energy!

Tracing in marker helps with tracing.

Using the light table helps to see the pictures as they are traced onto muslin.
