At Washington, we follow the three guiding principles of Respect, Responsibility, and Safety in order to make learning a positive experience for everyone.
Washington school provides students with daily instruction in the core subject areas of literacy, math, and science/social studies. All students also have physical education class daily. Students in grades 1-5 along with all-day kindergarten students have art and music weekly. Students are able to participate in extra-curricular chorus beginning in 4th grade. Band and orchestra programs begin in 5th grade. The PACE gifted program begins in 3rd grade; there is a testing process for students to qualify for this program. Extra-curricular activities available to students include: student council, Battle of the Books, student patrol, mileage club, chess club and Girls in Motion.
Washington benefits from the support of a highly involved PTA. They coordinate events such as school fundraisers, science and cultural arts enrichment, the Reflections contest, Fun Fair, and book fairs. Washington also has an active WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) volunteer progam.
