Miss Amanda Austin
I am excited to continue to be a part of the community here at Edison! The 2020-2021 school year is my 6th year teaching 8th grade Social Studies at Edison Middle School. I have also taught 7th grade Social Studies at Edison for 2 years.
I graduated from Illinois State University in May of 2013, with a degree in Elementary Education, as well as endorsments in Social Studies and Language Arts at the middle grade level.
I also have a Masters Degree in Differentiated Instruction from Concorida University Chicago, and I am a Google Certified Educator. Additionally in 2017, I was awarded the District 200 Distinguished Educator Award through the Student Excellence Foundation.
I am the Edison News teacher sponsor, and in past years I have been sponsors of Student Council and the Yearbook Club.
My goal as an educator is to inspire my students to become independent, lifelong learners through valuable and effective classroom experiences. My favorite part about history is helping students discover the repercussions of actions within different events in history, and connecting those events to their daily lives.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and shopping. Let's have an incredible year!
