Mrs. Shannon Tanner

I graduated from Western Illinois University in May 2011. After graduating from WIU, I spent a year back home teaching Elementary resource for K-6th grades. I moved full time to the Chicago area where I have taught middle school resource ever since. This will be my 5th year at Monroe and I truly enjoy my 8th graders! Being a lifelong learning and having a passion for reading, I recently completed graduate school and received my masters in reading. My position at Monroe gives me the opportunity to put the knowledge I gained through my masters program into action as I co-teach 8th grade ELA and teach my own direct ELA class. I also teach an academic reading class in addition to an academic skills class. Along with my teaching at Monroe, I also am a club sponsor and am a part of both the Instructional and Building Leadership Teams.

When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband and our fur baby Clara. I also truly love spoiling all of my nieces and nephews whenever I get the chance!
