Krista Petrilli MA.ED Early Childhood Special Education Team
Mrs. Krista Petrilli
I wanted to take a brief moment to welcome you to Jefferson Early Childhood Center. The team and I are very excited to be part of your child’s day! I am starting my 12th year as a part of the Jefferson family.
my name is Krista Petrilli. I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. My husband, high school sweet heart passed away in 2017. We were together 28 years. We moved to Wheaton, Illinois in 2005. While in Indiana I taught all day Kindergarten for eight years. I had one or two special education students during that time. I taught at an inner city private school that did not have many resources for special education so most parents sent their children to the public schools. However, the two students I did have were an inspiration to me. So when I moved to Illinois, I decided to work at Jefferson Early Childhood Center that has a diverse group of typically developing students and students that have special education needs. I not only have a license to teach early childhood special education, English Language Learners; but I am also qualified to teach general education elementary students with a reading recovery minor. I did receive my bachelor’s degree through Purdue University. I love BIG 10 sports and my two puppies (a Bassett hound and a Boston Terrier). Part of my personal teaching philosophy is to create a non-threatening learning environment for your children to develop and grow as a classroom community.
During the school please do not hesitate to e-mail me with any question and or concerns.
My hobbies are reading, yoga, listening to my I try and do yoga within the classroom. Using these strategies as brain breaks is very important for our little learners.
We all look forward to teaching, playing, helping and growing with your children this year.
