Mrs. Prather has been teaching at Monroe since 2002. Prior to coming to Monroe, she taught 3rd and 4th grades, and served as the Drama Director for two years at St. Charles Academy.
Mrs. Prather and her husband, Jeff, came to Chicago in 1983, and shortly thereafter, they formed their own theatre company. For 10 years they wrote children's plays and performed them in Chicago and suburban elementary schools. During that time, Mrs. Prather also taught classes in Public Speaking, Voice and Diction, and Acting at Loyola University of Chicago (6 years) and Wheaton College (1 year).
By now, it's probably no surprise that Mrs. Prather loves theatre! She directed the school productions at Monroe from 2002 to 2011, took two years off from directing, and then returned to direct THE WIZARD OF OZ in 2013-14, CINDERELLA in 2014-15, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS in 2015-2016, THE NIFTY-FIFTIES MALT SHOP MURDER in 2016-17, THE MUSIC MAN in 2017-18, and ALL'S FAIR in 2018-19. This year she is writing and directing WHEN RADIO WAS GOLD.
