An important component of the physical education department includes the use of heart rate monitors.  These devices help students and teachers track fitness progress in real-time as they participate in class.  A strap that holds the monitor is a required piece of equipment for each student's participation. 

A one-time fee for the purchase of the strap is assessed when students enter 6th grade or if/when a student transfers into a CUSD 200 high school.  If a student needs a new strap, the physical education teacher should be notified, and the student will be given a new strap.  The appropriate fee will be added to the student's account by the treasurer's office.
