Construction of a new early learning center is included in the April 4 Referendum.
After much consideration and evaluation, the Board has determined that building a new early learning center on the existing Jefferson property is the most cost effective and efficient solution to the facility challenges at Jefferson.
Major components include:
Sixteen (16) appropriately sized classrooms that allow all early learning programs to be located in one building.
Classrooms are ADA accessible, have a dedicated toilet room, and have a combined integrated therapy / staff workspace between pairs of classrooms.
Dedicated space for diagnostic screening, speech, occupational and physical therapies, indoor and outdoor gross motor activity, and secure outdoor play area.
Specific building features critical to early learning such as device storage space, separate off-street bus and car drop-off zones, and a resource center for students and parents.
To address the facility issues at Jefferson, the Board evaluated a renovation of the existing Jefferson facility, renovations of available properties throughout the community, and even an addition at the existing Hubble Middle School.
