Dear Band Parents and Families,
Thank you for being a part of our Monroe Middle School Band Program! My hope for this year is to be one of continued growth, involvement and great appreciation for music.
At this time each year, we hold our fundraising drive for the Monroe Middle School Band. While we are always grateful for the funding we receive from District 200 and Monroe Middle School, the costs for our quality band program typically exceeds this funding. For example, the score for a piece of jazz music can cost $50. Concert band literature can cost $80 with some music priced near $100 for works by exemplary composers and popular pieces of music. Add to this the costs for musical instrument purchases, high priority bus transportation in 7th and 8th grade, contest fees and additional programming costs for our band and you achieve an overall financial impact of around $3,000 each year. In order to defray many of these costs, we need your help!
Instead of a typical fundraising campaign, we are simply asking for a donation to the band from each family. The suggested donation is $35 per student. Please make checks payable to “Monroe Middle School” and write “band donation” on the memo line. Your gift is tax deductible and whatever you give is greatly appreciated!
Our “Note-able Notes” campaign will run from now through our winter concert on December 12th. You may return the attached envelope to Mr. Novak anytime during the campaign.
