Mrs. Kelsey Dewar

I graduated from Wheaton College in the spring of 2014 after student teaching in Elmhurst District #205 and Downers Grove District #58. This is my seventh year teaching at Monroe and Emerson.  I have previously taught summer orchestra in Downers Grove and summer camps at the Community School of the Arts in Wheaton.  While at Wheaton College, I was an active member of the Symphony Orchestra, including serving as Honors Conductor, Section Principal, Orchestra Librarian, and a member of the orchestra cabinet. I participated as a pit musician in the musical The Pirates of Penzance and published articles in the Wheaton Record.

I grew up in the greater Detroit area in Michigan and started playing the violin in second grade. Music has made a huge impact in my life and I am passionate about teaching strings and sharing the joy of music with my students.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading (I just finished reading through the Harry Potter series again!), spending time with my husband and son Henry, trying new recipes, and playing my violin in the community.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year in orchestra!
