Miss Lauryn Humphris

Hello! It is truly an honor to work at such amazing school. The staff is extremely dedicated and hardworking to make sure that they provide the very best education for our Panthers, but they also create an atmosphere where students feel safe and are able to connect with others to build positive relationships.

I grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois, and attended Downers Grove South High School.  During high school, I was on our student government association and was a part of the cross country, track and field, and swim teams.  I always loved working with kids, so at age sixteen, I applied for my first job at the Indian Boundary YMCA as a day camp counselor.  For eight years, I worked each summer with the day camp programs for children from Kindergarten through 9th grade.  In addition, I taught swim lessons and was a lifeguard year-round.

After high school, I attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois to pursue a career in education.  During my time at Augie, I participated in cross country and track and field teams.  I also served as the Greek Council Service Chair and the Service Chair for my sorority, Delta Chi Theta.

After graduating, my first job was teaching in Villa Park School District 45.  I taught 4th grade at Westmore Elementary School for 3 years before transferring to Jackson Middle School where I spent 12 years teaching social studies and language arts in grades 6, 7, and 8.  During that time, I coached cheerleading.  We even hosted four cheerleading competitions!  I also had the opportunity to coach the girl's volleyball team during my last three years there.

In July 2016, I was given the fortunate opportunity to join CUSD 200 as the assistant principal of Edison Middle School. It has been an incredible experience to work with such awesome educators and be a part of the wonderful Edison/Wheaton community.  I really enjoy working with the staff and finding ways to help support them in order to meet the needs of the students. My favorite part of this job is meeting each of our Edison Panthers and connecting with them.  I love to see them involved in the various clubs and activities that are offered at Edison and look forward to attending their performances, games, contests, meetings, and other various events.  Go Panthers!!
