Early Entrance to Kindergarten
District 200 recognizes that some children may be ready for kindergarten early. If your child is four years of age and will not turn five until after September 1st a request for assessment can be made to the building principal of your child’s school. A combination of district and standardized assessments will be utilized to determine if a child is eligible for early entrance to kindergarten. These assessments include letter sounds, Fountas and Pinnell Reading Assessments, counting, and our District 200 local math assessment. Assessments will be administered prior to the start of the school year and the building principal will contact the parents with the grade level recommendation within seven days of the screening.Early Entrance to 1st Grade

Students will be assessed using subject specific District 200 local assessments. The local assessment given will be the post-assessment for the grade desired for acceleration. Cut scores and recommendations will be communicated to the parent within seven days of the assessments.
