Food Service 2020-21

  • Food Service Update

The USDA has extended waivers that will allow schools to serve free meals to all children ages 18 and younger through Dec. 31, 2020.

Based on the new guidance, we will not charge any students for any meals.

Food distribution plans are outlined below. For questions, please contact your building principal or Lisa Maher, Director of Business Services, at

    Elementary In-Person Learning Students
All elementary students participating in the in-person learning experience will have the opportunity to receive breakfast and lunch from school. Students who choose to take meals will be given a meal bag as they exit the school at 1:00 p.m. each day. The bag will consist of lunch for the current day and breakfast for the following morning so that meals can be eaten at home. Due to the change in food service, milk will not be available at this time.

Virtual Academy, Middle School and High School Students
All Virtual Academy, middle school and high school students will also still have the opportunity to receive breakfast and lunch. For THIS week and NEXT week, food service will be on TUESDAY and THURSDAY. Beginning the week of 9/14, food service will be on Monday and Thursday. **In our communication on August 31, we indicated that food service was on Friday starting the week of 9/14 and that was not accurate.**

Meals will be distributed on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Wheaton North, Wheaton Warrenville South, Edison, Franklin, Hubble and Monroe at Door #1 of each respective building. Meal bags will consist of multiple days’ worth of meals as stated below; options to get fewer meals in a bag are not available at this time.

On Mondays, students or parents/guardians can pick up six (6) meals (breakfasts and lunches, intended for consumption on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

On Thursdays, students or parents/guardians can pick up four (4) meals (breakfasts and lunches intended for consumption on Friday and Monday).
