Here’s a quick alphabetical guide to what we do and how we do it:

    A

Adventure Day – Students choose their customized day of learning from mini-classes taught by community and parent volunteers on the last Friday of the school year.

Amazing Race – Grab a team of 10 and be prepared to conquer several fun challenges on a Friday night in May during this crazy race that’ll take you all over Whittier. This event is held every other year.

American Education Week – For this National PTA event in November, a display is set up in a local venue displaying student artwork.

Art Smart – Once a month students learn about an artist and his or her style. Volunteers spend about 30 minutes with a class and talk about the designated art material. Materials and training will be provided. No art background required!

    B

Bike/Walk to School – Twice a year, families are encouraged to walk or bike to school. Students meet up for some fun at a local park before continuing on to school.

Book Fair – Our PTA-sponsored book sale is held in April. Proceeds help fund the Birthday Book program and various library needs.

Book Swap – Students bring in books to swap for some new reads during the Pancake Breakfast.

Box Tops for Education – This is a great way to earn cash for the school and with the new app available for mobile phones it is even easier to record and requires no clipping.

Chess Club – This group of chess enthusiasts meet once a week during lunch. All students welcome. Includes lessons taught by a chess master.

Classroom Funding – Did you know we give every classroom teacher and specialist funds to help them invest in new educational materials and programs?

Conference Supper – The PTA provides two meals for the teachers during the November parent-teacher conferences.

    We love Whittier.

Did you know that our PTA spends about $100 per student every year on things like field trips, cultural assemblies, classroom materials as well as special events like Veteran’s Day, the Pancake Breakfast and Adventure Day? We support the school’s media center, STEM program and courtyard garden. We create the school directory and yearbook. We also help build an important communication link between staff and parents.

We are 100% volunteer powered and 100% dependent on fundraising.

Please join us. Thank you for your support!
