FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for Edison PTA’s Fun Run
Where do the funds raised go?
The funds raised for the Fun Run go towards curriculum-based programs and equipment, field trips and guest speakers, band, orchestra, and show choir, school clubs, Panther Nights, dances and other socials, library support, staff appreciation, 8th Grade Moving- On Ceremony and lots more.
Who runs the Fun Run?
All 6th, 7th and 8th graders currently enrolled at Edison Middle School.
Can my child walk?
Yes, while the students are encouraged to run, they may walk during the Fun Run. They have the whole class period to complete the Fun Run.
Why don’t the kids run consecutive laps; why do they only run one lap?
At the middle school level, the students run a large course in the back perimeter of the school. It is known by students and staff as “The Monster” which is equivalent to approximately one half mile. There are not enough volunteers to record laps and the designated time does not allow for multiple laps.
Why does the school host a Fun Run?
This is the biggest fundraiser of the year. It promotes physical health while working towards a common goal of supporting the school community as a whole.
How can I donate?
There are a number of ways that you can contribute to the Fun Run:
Send in cash to your child’s PE or Health teacher and include the Fundraiser Form.
Send in checks to your child’s PE or Health teacher and include the Fundraiser Form.
Donate online using this link: https://edisonmiddleschool.memberhub.com/store/items/730950
Am I required to donate?
No. However, this is the biggest fundraiser of the year and your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Will I be charged any fees when I donate?
If you use the Memberhub online store to donate, you will pay the fees that are set by Memberhub. You will not be charged any fees if you pay by cash. If your bank charges you a fee for writing a check, you will pay those fees associated with your bank.
Can relatives, friends, and neighbors donate?
Yes, absolutely! It is probably easiest if the runner collects all the money via cash, check, Venmo, Paypal, FaceBook Pay, or Zelle and then make one transaction online or return one check but donors are more than welcome to donate online and fill out the designated questions to ensure your child will receive credit.
Does everyone win a prize?
No. There are different prize tiers based on how much each individual raises. Prizes are cumulative. Prizes vary each year.
When will my prizes arrive?
After race day, the Fun Run Committee calculates all funds and records prizes earned. An order is placed with the vendors for t-shirts and prizes. Depending on the size of the order, prizes usually arrive from the vendor 4-6 weeks after the event. Prizes are then sorted by the Fun Run Committee and returned to the school. At this point, the school is responsible for distributing the prizes to the students. Prizes vary each year.
If my child earns a pizza party, when will they get their pizza?
The Fun Run Committee collaborates with the Front Office to decide on a date that is most convenient for the students and the school. The students then pick their guests, permission slips are distributed, and families are notified of the event date. To Be Determined.
Do I need to provide my child’s shirt size?
If your child meets the requirement for earning a t-shirt or hooded sweatshirt, you will need to note their size. This information will not be shared with anyone. The sole purpose of collecting a shirt size is to ensure your child receives a shirt that will fit them. If a non-student donates on your child’s behalf, they can select N/A for the shirt size or they can ask you for the information.
What happens if I ordered the wrong shirt size?
We will try our best to exchange for the correct size but there will be a limited number of extra shirts so you will not be guaranteed a correct shirt size if you order the wrong size.
Will non-runners who donate receive prizes?
No, the only ones that are qualified to receive prizes are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Edison Middle School who participate in the event.
What happens if my child is absent on the day of the event?
We will be sorry that your child is unable to attend. The PE and Health teachers and absent child will follow current protocol for making up absentee work.
Can I get a refund?
No. Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued for any reason.
What happens if it rains on the date of the event?
The event will be postponed only if there are imminent dangers such as lighting or thunder. The event will then be held one week after the initially planned date of the event.
