Reporting an Absence
When your child is absent for any reason, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to call the school attendance line: (630) 682-2066. At the time of your call, please provide your name, the child’s name, classroom teacher, the reason for the absence and homework requests. Homework requested in the morning can be picked up after 3:30 p.m. in the office. Family vacations should not be taken during the school year if possible.
The office will make every attempt to contact the parent if we are not notified of an absence. It is important that the school know of each absence so that a student’s safe arrival at school, whereabouts or security can be verified.
Depending upon the circumstances, a doctor's note may be required from a student who has been absent. This is especially important if the student has a unique condition, is restricted or limited in activities, or has a recurring illness. All doctor's notes must be signed and dated. If your child contracts a contagious disease, please contact the school office immediately. Some illnesses require a doctor’s release in order to return to school.
Excused absence means that a parent has called in to the school to verify a child’s reason for absence.
Unexcused absence means that no parent contact was made to the school informing the office of the absence.
