Delta Epsilon Phi, the German Honor Society, is a national education fraternity. Its purpose is to recognize scholarship in the study of German and promote interest in the language and culture of the German-speaking countries. Students who have completed at least 3 semesters of German with an A-average (or better) are eligible for induction in the spring. Annual events include Wheaton North's Oktoberfest, and the Fasching/Karneval celebration in late winter. Meetings usually take place before school, depending on the schedules of members and officers.
Membership is achieved by meeting the national criteria: (1) Completed 3 semesters of German with an average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale), (2) GPA in all courses must be B or better, (3) be taking German the semester s/he is inducted, (4) attend the initiation ceremony in March.
