Activities that take place at school during the school day:
All Pro Dads- All Pro Dad is on a mission to help you love and lead your family well. Be a hero to your kids. Join us for a once a month meeting with breakfast before school starts.
Art Encounter- Bring the world of fine art into your child’s classroom several times per year by presenting an artist and painting to the class. All lesson plans and art are on file at the school for your use. (SPRING)
Battle of the Books - Prepare students for Wheaton Public Library-sponsored competitions with other schools. Meets once a week during lunch. Competition starts in January. (YEAR ROUND)
BooHoo! YaHoo! Breakfast - A single day event for new Kindergartner families to meet and greet.
Book Fair - Assist students in purchasing books during this Library Fundraiser, which raises money for the LLC and teachers' classroom libraries. (FALL)
Canned Food Drive - Once a month students bring in canned food or other needed items to be transported to a local food pantry. (YEAR ROUND)
Chess Club - The team participates in several competitions during the year. Assist the coach with the team during the once-a-week lunchtime meetings. (YEAR ROUND)
Crossing Guards - Please consider helping keep our children safe as they walk to and from school. Sign up for morning or after school crossing children at Chase and Dawes. (YEAR ROUND)
Exploremore Day - Students love this day full of creativity, fun and learning, scheduled at the end of the year. Share your talents and teach a hobby or skill to a group of students. (SPRING)
Hospitality - Organize and serve: Snacks/drinks at Back to School Picnic; Dinners to teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences and any School Board Meetings held at Lincoln. (3 events per year)
LLC - Library Learning Center Helpers - Assist the librarian check-out books and shelve returned material.
Mileage Club - Volunteer during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hand out popsicle sticks to help the children count their laps. Help hand out Shoe Token Awards. (YEAR ROUND)
New Family Welcome - Order Yard Signs for new students. Design and order T-shirts for New Kindergartners and New Lincoln Students. Advertise and provide food/drinks at BooHoo! Yahoo! Breakfast. Organize snacks/drinks at Kindergarden Orientation and at Kindergarten Evaluation. (YEAR ROUND)
Room Parents/Parties - Parents plan and do three parties throughout the year: Halloween, Winter, and Valentine’s. They also buy and distribute a treat for the End of the Year picnics. PTA contributes money for each student to enjoy these parties. (YEAR ROUND)
RUN for FUNds - Lincoln's Biggest Fundraiser of the Year! The students get straight donations or pledges per laps run. They run during their PE time. Will need help copying and distributing information packets, setting up the Race Day Course, tracking students laps, collecting envelopes, and giving out prizes. (FALL)
School Pictures - Coordinate getting students to and from the photography area. (FALL)
Teacher Appreciation Week - Breakfast, lunch, desserts and raffles are some of our ways of saying thanks to our teachers! Setting up, cleaning up, donating and serving are some of the ways to help. (SPRING)
Vision/Hearing Screening, Dental Screening - Coordinate getting students to and from the screening area. (FALL, SPRING)
Activities that take place during evenings or weekends:
Ice Cream Social - Get to know or reconnect with other Lincoln families at this beginning of the year event! Help scoop ice cream, set up or clean up. (FALL)
Landscaping - Beautify our school with weeding, mulching and planting around the building grounds. (FALL, SPRING)
Pancake Breakfast - Join other Lincoln families on a Saturday morning for some breakfast at our school. Help is needed for tickets, serving, cooking and clean up. (WINTER)
Book Exchange - This event will take place at the Pancake Breakfast. Each person can bring up to 5 gently used books and go home with the same number of books! We need volunteers to record how many books students bring in (collected on Thursday and Friday mornings at school before the breakfast) and volunteers to sort the books on tables for the "bookstore", as well as volunteers at the "checkout" to check off students as they leave the store. (WINTER)
Roller Skating Parties - A family night out to get some exercise with other Lincoln friends! (WINTER, SPRING)
Science Olympiad - An evening of science for the students. Assist with teaching or organizing the night. Volunteers can also be small group leaders that lead groups to each activity. (WINTER)
Screen Free Week - This initiative is a nationally celebrated week with its own website of ideas of how to encourage students to spend less time with their head in a screen and more time being active and socializing with family and friends. (SPRING)
Silent Auction - In conjunction with Trivia Night, this highly successful fundraiser auctions off various high-value items donated by businesses and parents. Help is needed to solicit donations from businesses and to create themed baskets. (WINTER)
Summer Picnic - After a long summer, come to school and enjoy a picnic with other Lincoln Families. A great way to catch up before the new school year begins.(SUMMER)
Trivia Night - An evening of fun for parents, while raising money for the PTA! Help in set up, collecting and scoring completed sheets, and clean up. (WINTER)
Variety Show - Students have the opportunity to show off their talents on stage! Help is needed in coordinating the students at tryouts, rehearsals and at actual show. (SPRING)
Walk To School Day - On this day we join millions of other people from around the globe as we encourage our Lincoln families to leave the car at home and walk to school. (FALL)
Activity is mostly done at home with short day visits to school (or other locations):
Art to Remember - Students create a work of art that is placed onto various materials, such as magnets, potholders and t-shirts. Money raised goes to the Art Department. (SPRING)
Big "G" Box Tops - Volunteers trim the Box Tops and checking for expiration dates and then bagging them for mailing. We need 1 volunteer per classroom to count the Box Tops collected. The money we raise helps support many activities throughout the year. Prizes are awarded to the winning classes. (YEAR ROUND)
Cougars Baseball Game - A night out at the ballgame with other Lincoln families. (SPRING)
Cultural Arts - Organize several assemblies throughout the year for the students’ enrichment. (YEAR ROUND)
Dine Out Nights - Our PTA earns a percentage of sales during specified evenings at local restaurants. (YEAR ROUND)
Earning for Learning - Our PTA earns money when shopping at Office Depot, specify Lincoln as their school. Shop online at Amazonsmile.com and/ or Shutterfly.com (YEAR ROUND)
Reflections - A National PTA program inviting students to submit work in several artistic categories based on a specific theme. Entries have the opportunity to make it through district, state and nationals. (FALL)
Scholarship - A Wheaton-Warrenville PTA Council program in which all local PTAs contribute to a scholarship fund for outstanding District 200 high school seniors. Each PTA sends a representative to choose the recipients. (SPRING)
School Directory - The PTA publishes the annual school directory (FALL)
School Supply Sales - Parents can choose to purchase next year’s school supplies through this service.(SPRING)
Screen Free Week - Coordinate incentives and charts for students to pledge a week of Screen FREE activities. This is a national event with many ideas on the national website. (SPRING)
Spirit Wear Sales - Show your Lincoln Wildcat pride by purchasing spirit wear. (FALL)
Yearbook - PTA publishes the annual yearbook. Contribute photos taken at various events throughout the year. (YEAR-ROUND)
Other services PTA provides:
*Birthday Books - Every child receives a book from the PTA on his/her birthday or half-birthday, signed by the principal.
*Friends of Lincoln - Periodically the PTA gather a variety of donations to distribute to Lincoln families in need.
*Grant Fund - Money available to teachers to use for innovative or additional items for their classrooms.
*Standardized Testing Snacks - On testing days, the PTA provides a healthy snack to start the day.
