• Directory of Activities, Events and Ways to Volunteer

    The following is a list of all the different activities, events and opportunities sponsored by the Lincoln PTA divided by level of commitment, such as activites done mostly during the day, on the evenings or weekends, and finally, activities done mostly at home with short visits to various locations.  Interested in volunteering for any of the events below?  Contact the Committee chairs or the PTA VP of Committees, Michelle Morse at LincolnCommittees@gmail.com and we'll get you connected.  

    Thank you to all the committee chairs and volunteers as well as the PTA members!  Without all of you, we wouldn't be able to offer any of the great ideas below.

Art Encounter In-School Volunteer Jen Holstein Bring the world of fine art into your child’s classroom several times per year by presenting an artist and painting to the class. All lesson plans and art are on file at the school for your use. Spring
Battle of the Books Club Carrie Jodelka Prepare students for Wheaton Public Library-sponsored competitions with other schools. Students and volunteers meet once a week. Competition starts in January. Year Round
Boohoo! Yahoo! Breakfast Community Katie Fils and Katie DiStazio A single day event for new Kindergartner families to meet and greet. Fall
Book Fair In-School Volunteer PTA Executive Team Assist students in purchasing books during this library fundraiser, which raises money for the LLC and teachers' classroom libraries. The PTA provides dollars for each student to spend on a book. Fall
Chess Club Club Robyn Heine, Beth Gucwa and Jesse Camp The team participates in several competitions during the year. Volunteers assist the coach with the team during the once-a-week meetings. Year Round
Exploremore Day Event Planning Susie Dulay, Jessie Camp, Mychela Marshall Students love this day full of creativity, fun and learning, scheduled at the end of the year. Share your talents and teach a hobby or skill to a group of students. Spring
Food Drive Community OPEN Students bring in canned food or other needed items to be transported to a local food pantry. Year Round
Hospitality After School Volunteer Janine Saviano and Michelle Morse Organize and serve two dinner to teachers during Parent-Teacher conferences. 2 events per year
Make a Difference Day Community Catrina LaFave Students bring in canned food or other needed items to be transported to a local food pantry. Fall
Mileage Club In-School Volunteer Katie Enright Volunteer during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hand out and scan QR codes to help children count their laps. Help hand out Shoe Token Awards Fall/Spring
Room Parents & Classroom Parties In-School Volunteer Mychela Marshall Parents plan and do 3 parties throughout the year: Halloween, Winter and Valentine's. The PTA contributes money for each student to enjoy these parties. Year Round
Run-4-FUNds Event Planning Megan Russo and Kristine Eisenmann The students get donations They run a course during their PE time. Volunteers help copy and distribute information packets, set up race day course, track student laps, collect donation envelopes and give our prizes. Fall
School Pictures In-School Volunteer Erin Allen Volunteers coordinate getting students to and from the photography area. Fall
Standardized Testing (IAR) Snacks In-School Volunteer Rachel Maggio On testing days, the committee provides a health snack to start the day. Year Round
Teacher Appreciation Before-School Volunteer Kristine Eisenmann Breakfast, lunch, and desserts are some of the ways of saying thanks to our teachers. Year Round
Teacher Appreciation Week Donations Katie DiStazio, Catrina LaFave Breakfast, lunch, desserts and raffles are some of the ways of saying thanks to our teachers. Setting up, cleaning up, donating and serving our some of the ways to help. Spring
Vision/Hearing Screening, Dental Screening In-School Volunteer Kerri Johnson Coordinate getting students to and from the screening area. Fall/Spring

Basket Bonanza Event Planning Katie Potts and Hala Istanbouli Each classroom builds a basket to be raffled off to a lucky student. This event usually takes place during the Pancake Breakfast. Winter
Beautification Community Robyn Heine and Catrina LaFave Beautify our school with weeding, mulching and planting around the building grounds. Fall/Sprint
Book Exchange Event Planning Ashley Dougherty Each student can bring up to 5 gently used books and go home with the same number of books. Volunteer how many books students bring in, sort the books on tables for the "bookstore", as well as "checkout" students as they leave the store. Winter
Crossing Guard Before/After School Volunteer CHAIR NEEDED Help keep our children safe as they walk/bike to and from school. Sign up for morning or after school crossing children at Chase and Dawes. Year Round
Hospitality Event Planning Janine Saviano and Michelle Morse Coordinate dinners for teachers during fall conferences. Fall
Ice Cream Social Event Planning Emily Adorjan Get to know or reconnect with other Lincoln families at the beginning of the year event! Help scoop ice cream, set up or clean up. Fall
New Family Welcome Community Katie Fils and Katie DiStazio Order yard signs and t-shirts for new Lincoln families. Fall
Popsicles with the Principal Community Katie Fils At the end of summer, come and enjoy a back-to-school celebration with other Lincoln Families. A great way to catch up before the new school year begins. Summer
Roller Skating Parties Community Alyse Maka A family night out to have fun and get some exercise with other Lincoln friends! The chair schedules 2 dates with the roller rink and advertise at school. Fall/Spring
Science Olympiad Event Planning Crystal Randal An evening of science for the students. Assist with teaching or organizing the night. Volunteers can also be small group leaders that lead groups to each activity. Winter
Trivia Night Event Planning Lisa Cara An evening of fun for parents, while raising money for the PTA! Help set up, collecting and scoring completed sheets, and clean up. Winter
Variety Show Event Planning Katie DiStazio and Catrina LaFave Students have the opportunity to show off their talents on stage! Help coordinate the students at tryouts, rehearsals and at the show. Winter
Walk to School Day Before School Volunteer Jen Holstein On this day we join millions of other people from around the globe as we encourage our Lincoln families to leave the car at home and walk to school. Fall

Dine Out Nights Event Planning Matt Mason Coordinate dine out nights with neighborhood restaurants that will donate a percentage of sales back to the PTA. Year Round
Earning for Learning Fundraiser OPEN Our PTA earns money when families shop at AmazonSmile, MemberHub Givebacks and Box Tops. Volunteer helps coordinate additional fundraisers like coin drives that raise money for the PTA. Year Round
Kane County Cougars Baseball Game Community Adam Marshall Coordinate Lincoln families for a night out at the ballgame. Spring
Reflections Event Planning Katie Fils and Karen Campbell A National PTA program inviting students to submit work is several artistic categories based on a specific theme. Entries have the opportunity to make it through district, state and nationals. Fall
Scholarship Representative Community Lorissa Bertolini Wheaton-Warrenville PTA Council program in which all local PTAs contribute to a scholarship fund for outstanding District 200 high school seniors. Each PTA sends a representative to choose the participant. Spring
School Directory Community Reggie Ramos The PTA publishes the annual school directory via DirectorySpot. Volunteer updates the directory each school year. Fall
School Supply Sales Event Planning Katie DiStazio Parents can choose to purchase next year's school supplies through this service. Volunteer coordinates with supply company and parents. Spring
Screen Free Week Event Planning Anna Shindler and Jennifer Nelson Volunteer coordinates incentives and charts for students to pledge a week of Screen FREE activities. This is a national event with many ideas on the national website. Spring
Silent Auction Event Planning OPEN In conjunction with Trivia Night, this highly successful fundraiser auctions off various high-value items donated by businesses, community members, and Lincoln families. Help is needed to solicit donations from businesses and create themed baskets. Winter
Spirit Wear Sales Event Planning Katie DiStazio and Erin Allen Show your Lincoln Wildcat pride by purchasing spirt wear. Volunteer coordinates with spirt wear supplier for designs and communication with parents. Fall
Wine/Beer Pull Event Planning OPEN This fundraiser typically takes place at the annual Trivia Night. Donated bottles of wine and beer are repackaged and sold to raise money for Lincoln. Winter
Yearbook Community Nicole Wilkins and Elizabeth Fread PTA publishes the annual yearbook. Volunteers contribute photos taken at various events throughout the year via TreeRing and the committee chair coordinates with TreeRing to print the yearbook using pictures uploaded to the site. Year Round
