• Summer 2019 English Reading Assignments
    Read – Write – Connect – Reflect
     
    The English department wishes you a restful and renewing summer. We hope you will continue to read books of your own selection as well as the required reading books for your respective grade or level. The information below will allow incoming freshmen and all Advanced/AP students to access all required reading assignments for the 2019-2020 school year.
     

     

    Freshmen

    The English department welcomes you, a member of the class of 2023, to Wheaton Warrenville South High School for your freshman year. We hope you are looking forward to joining us at WWS, and we hope you are going to enjoy a restful and renewing summer. An important goal of the English program is to foster an appreciation of literature.

    Links to the required summer reading assignments are below. Please make sure to click on the appropriate link for the class you are enrolled in for the start of the school year. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Lawrence, the English Department Chair.

     

     

     



    Sophomore A-Level, Junior AP & Senior AP

    As part of the Advanced English Program at Wheaton Warrenville South, students enrolled in Advanced English are asked to read over the summer. Please make sure you complete the summer reading assignment for the course you are enrolled in for the fall. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Lawrence, the English Department Chair.



    *OPTIONAL For all students and staff: WWS "I READ" SUMMER READING INITIATIVE

    While all A-level students and incoming freshmen are required to complete summer reading assignments, ALL incoming and current South students and staff members are encouraged to participate in iRead--our all school summer reading initiative. In short, students pledge to read one or more books for a chance to win fabulous prizes from local businesses! To participate, simply fill out this pledge sheet.  Contact Dr. Lawrence at craig.lawrence@cusd200.org if you have any questions about this optional reading program.
