Mrs. Debra Willems

Hello Kindergarten families!  I would like to tell you just a little bit about me as we start on our Kindergarten journey together.  I have been part of the Washington Community for 31 years.  I started out as a parent, then came back to teaching seventeen
years ago. Upon coming back, I taught kindergarten for two of those years, then moved to first grade. I am thrilled to be back in kindergarten for my fifth year!! My family and I have lived in the Wheaton area for the past 33 years.  All three of my sons went through Washington, Franklin, and Wheaton North before my return to the teaching world. Before my boys, I taught All Day-Developmental Kindergarten in District 170 for six years.
I am very passionate about my work and truly love my job.  Very often you will find me inside the community watching my students perform in extracurricular activities.  I truly believe that children invest more in their learning when they know their teacher cares about them beyond the classroom. They are more than just students in my room.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood/Special Education from Illinois State University.  I have a Masters of Arts degree from Aurora University. I also have an ELL Endorsement from National Louis University.
As we partner in your child's education, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me via email or phone.    630/682-2222 ext. 4741
