I am Ashley Young and I am the Library Learning Center Director at Hawthorne School. Working in the library is the best job in the school. Not only do I get to know and work with every student, teacher, and specialist, but I get to share my excitement for reading and information literacy!  

 

I have BA in English from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and an MS in Information with a specialization in Library and Information Services from the University of Michigan. Before moving to school libraries, I worked as a corporate librarian for a nonprofit membership organization, then as a contractor overseeing a journal digitization project at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. Before coming to Hawthorne, I managed school libraries at both the high school and elementary levels.

 

I live in Wheaton with my husband, two sons, one very affectionate cat and one cat that thinks she's a jungle cat. When I'm not empowering learners with books and information skills, I love to read (of course!), run, and knit.
