Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Lisa Tomek

I am a product of our amazing Wheaton schools.    I attended Edison Middle School, and Wheaton Central High School. Upon graduation, I attended Eastern Illinois University where I earned my BS degree in Elementary Education. I began my teaching career at Madison Elementary in 1985, where I taught third grade for 5 years, and 5th grade for two years before taking a leave of absence to raise my children who are now 24 and 22.  I was involved in a remedial reading program called "Partners in Reading" in St. Charles while I was home with my children, and was working with students in two elementary schools. During this time I developed a great passion for helping struggling students excel in reading.    Upon my return to Madison in 2002, I taught 4th grade, and then third grade the following year.  I began my MA in Reading Instruction at Aurora University during my second year back, and received my degree in 2005.  I continued to teach third grade, and later accepted a reading position in 2010. Overall, I have 22years of teaching experience at Madison, and I am very proud to say that several of my former Madison students are now District 200 educators.
