Degrees and Certifications:

Illinois State University Bachelor of Music Education and Vocal Performance Lorenzo de'Medici Italian Opera Italian Language

Ms. Kassy Krause

Kassy Krause holds degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Illinois State University. She is a classically trained coloratura soprano having performed many leading operatic roles, but much prefers being in front of an ensemble in the classroom using music as a tool to build community and empower young adults. In 2008 she had the opportunity to live in Florence, Italy while studying Italian Opera and Italian language.  She still finds time to perform when her schedule allows and most recently has been seen on the stage at the iconic Orchestra Hall at Chicago Symphony Center, as well as Ravinia performing Bernstein’s Mass with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, which you can watch on the PBS series Great Performances, released in 2020.

In her thirteenth year as a music educator, Krause is an active member of the Illinois Music Educators Association and has served as the Repertoire & Standards Chair for Show Choir on the American Choral Directors Association board where she led the Illinois All State Show Choir.  Kassy was awarded the 2014 National Fame Aspire Award for Best New Director and the same year her show choir, Flight, won Most Promising New Program. Her concert choirs have been invited to perform all over world and most recently presented concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Paris, Barcelona, and Rome. She maintains an active schedule of adjudicating and workshopping choirs and show choirs across the nation, and is honored to have been selected as one of only a handful of Vocal Clinicians to teach and present workshops to thousands of students and music educators from every corner of the United States at Showchoir Camps of America at Millikin University and Heidelberg University for the past 7 years.

Kassy is in her ninth year as the Director of Vocal Music at Wheaton North High School where she conducts four curricular concert choirs, and directs the award-winning extra-curricular show choir, Flight. Kassy lives in Chicago, Illinois and enjoys all things calligraphy, design, DIY, travel, documentaries, podcasts, unsupervised shopping at Target, quality storytelling, and going on adventures with her adorable one-blue-eye-one-hazel-eyed tornado of chaos, her mini Aussie Latti.
