Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with subject endorsements in Middle School Social Studies, and Language Arts. Masters Degree in Differentiated Instruction

Ms. Amanda Austin

I am excited to continue to be a part of the community here at Edison! The 2022-2023 school year is my 8th year teaching at Edison Middle School. In my time here, I have taught 8th grade Social Studies for 8 years, 7th grade Social Studies for 2 years, and 6th grade Foundations for 1 year.

I graduated from Illinois State University in May of 2013, with a degree in Elementary Education, as well as endorsements in Social Studies and Language Arts at the middle grade level.

I also have a Masters Degree in Differentiated Instruction from Concorida University Chicago, and I am a Google Certified Educator. Additionally, in 2017, I was awarded the District 200 Distinguished Educator Award through the Student Excellence Foundation.

I am the Blogger Club teacher sponsor, and in the past years I have also sponsored Student Council, Dungeons and Dragons Club, and Yearbook Club. In addition, I am one of Edison's track and field coaches, and this will be my third year coaching!

My goal as an educator is to inspire my students to become independent, lifelong learners through valuable and effective classroom experiences. My favorite part about history is helping students discover the repercussions of actions within different events in history, and connecting those events to their daily lives.

In my free time, I enjoy working out, reading, and shopping. Let's have an incredible year!
