    Election Results

As you may know by now, the District 200 community did not approve the referendum question included in yesterday’s election.

The District’s facility planning process, that resulted in a referendum question, included a significant amount of community involvement and feedback. The Board of Education and staff developed a plan based on the input of the community and the desire to create the best learning environments for our children.

A referendum question is an opportunity for the community to directly weigh in on an option put forth by the Board of Education. Ultimately, the community decided that the facility plan we put forward was not the facility plan they wanted for our District. We respect that decision and will continue to work with the Board of Education to identify a solution to our facility needs that is in the best interest of our children.

The community elected Ginna Ericksen, Rob Hanlon, Jim Mathieson and Brad Paulsen to serve a four-year term on our Board of Education. The new Board will be seated at a special meeting on May 2, 2017. The Election Commission has 21 days to canvas votes and make results official.

    Sincerely,

    Jeff Schuler
