Emerson Elementary School

My name is Miss Colon and I am the Library Learning Center Director here at Emerson Elementary. 2022-23 is my second school year in District 200. Mrs. Komro is our LLC Aide.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Ball State University. I also have a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from University of Illinois.

My past experience includes being a teacher, nanny, youth librarian, and summer camp counselor. I love working with kids!

The Emerson LLC is here to support students in becoming compassionate global citizens. Our goal is to help students develop strong inquiry-based research skills along with a lifelong love of reading and learning.

The LLC is open. All students will visit the library with their class for 45 minutes each week. This library time will give students the opportunity to participate in storytimes and activities, book browsing and checkout, and our Word Wall and Makerspace stations. I hope to work with students and teachers to make the LLC a place of learning, creativity, inquiry, and fun! I am looking forward to a great school year with our students!
