Dr. Kathy Melton
Dr. Kathy Melton joined the Lowell school community as principal in the 2013-14 school year. Dr. Melton also serves as an adjunct instructor in principal preparation and educational technology graduate programs. She is the Membership Chair for the DuPage region of the Illinois Principals Association and a Digital Learning Ambassador for the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Before joining District 200, she served the District #308 Leadership Team in Oswego for 7 years, including time as an elementary principal and as a junior high and elementary school assistant principal.
Prior to that, she served as a middle school language arts and social studies teacher, an elementary summer enrichment instructor, and a soccer coach at the junior high and high school levels. While working part-time and being home with her own children, she also had the opportunity to serve North Central College as the Coordinator of Elementary Field Placement.
Dr. Melton and her husband, Jim, are the proud parents of Mark (16), Alexa (14), Tessa (14) and Liana (12); Alexa and Liana joined their family nine years ago from Ethiopia. Through the lens of both an educator and a mother, Dr. Melton firmly believes the partnership between our families and our schools is critical to the continued growth and success of our children. She considers it a great privilege to partner with your family during your time at Lowell, and is especially excited to celebrate Lowell's 100th year of serving the Wheaton community.
