Mrs. Brooke Rodgers

Dear Students and Families,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Brooke Rodgers and I am one of Monroe Middle School's Physical Education Teachers. I love being a part of the Monroe family and teach my main passion: Physical Education with a major focus in fitness, nutrition, healthy living and lifestyles, character education, and wellness. I received my B.A. in Elementary Education through North Central College and I am also a certified health coach practitioner through The American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I have middle school endorsements in Physical Education, ESL, Language Arts, and Social Science. I recently completed my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Leadership in January 2021 at Concordia University.

The basis of my teaching philosophy surrounds my passion to inspire, educate, encourage, and promote not only a safe, positive, and fun learning environment in the areas of team sportsmanship, positive communication and collaboration, lifelong health, nutrition, and physical fitness; but to inspire and encourage a positive change in the health and lives of my students. This is my 5th year at Monroe teaching Physical Education. I have been teaching physical education for 8 years.

My husband Erik is a former Monroe student and graduate of Wheaton North High School. We both reside in Wheaton with our 2 year old daughter, Elanor.

We also love to travel, hike, and spend a lot of time outdoors. In my free time I enjoy running, cooking, performing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training exercises), reading about health-related articles in preventative health and using food as medicine. I also enjoy creating new fitness routines and circuits (one's I plan to test out on my students :)).

I am looking forward to another great, fit, health transformative year with my Monroe family!

In health and wellness,

Mrs. Rodgers :-)
