It is a privilege to be the principal at Jefferson Early Childhood Center since 1993. After graduating from Illinois State University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education, I began my teaching career at Wiesbrook Elementary school instructing students with special education needs. I also taught students at the middle and high school levels for three years and served as a Lead Teacher. In this role, I provided technical assistance and support to staff and students in the School Association for Special Education (SASED) cooperative and in District 200.
On a personal note, I was born in California and moved to Holland during elementary school where I learned to speak Dutch by attending the neighborhood school. Upon returning to the States, my family settled in Illinois where I have lived ever since. I have four children and two beautiful grandchildren.
It is truly an honor to work with dedicated staff who have a high level of expertise and make a difference in the lives of the children, families and the community on a daily basis. I am also thankful for so many supportive families who take an active role in their child’s lives and inspire me each and every day!
