Welcome to Emerson School!
As a staff member of District 200 for 27 years, I am honored to be the principal of this amazing elementary school for the last nine years. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University, I began my career at Washington Elementary School as a paraprofessional for 4 months. Then I taught in a first and second grade multi-age classroom for two years at Johnson Elementary School in Warrenville. I moved from there to Hawthorne School, where I did my student teaching. I taught kindergarten, second grade, third grade and fifth grade during my sixteen years there. I was also a gifted specialist and curriculum leader there while getting my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and my English Language Learners endorsement. My final two years, before becoming a principal, I served as a Curriculum Leader at Hawthorne and Sandburg Elementary schools. During my first year as principal, I also served as the Director of English Language Learners for District. I will soon be learning from other educational leaders through the Marguerite Key Fellowship. My goal is to continue to grow and learn in order to meet the needs of all of our students.
I am a lifelong Wheaton resident. I continue to be passionate about serving the students of our community. I am proud to work with the amazing and dedicated staff of Emerson Elementary School. In 2015 Emerson received recognition in their success with a National Blue Ribbon of Excellence! This community/family is incredibly special! Whether you are a former student, a parent, or a community member, I encourage you to get involved and become an active member of this wonderful place! We welcome you.
