Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Nancy Ahrenholz
Welcome to a new school year! I am excited to go on the journey into learning with your child! I know they will stretch and grow in many incredible ways. During this unique year, I know I will stretch and grow as well! I consider it a great privilege to partner with you to make it the most enjoyable and productive time it can be. Please let me know anytime you have questions or concerns along the way so we can effectively address your child's needs in this wonder-filled time of his or her life.
My training includes a BA from Wheaton College, a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction and ESL endorsement from Concordia University Chicago. My teaching experience began in 1984 and includes preschool, Kindergarten, first and third grade. This is my 20th year in District 200, 18th year in first grade. I love the opportunity to build a strong foundation in young readers, writers and mathematicians. My ultimate goal is to make our classroom a safe and joyful place for your children to establish habits that will shape them into eager lifelong learners and compassionate people. A fun fact is that my classroom shares the courtyard with the library, so we head out there to use it as our outdoor classroom whenever we can! We work from day one to develop a happy class culture of caring, support and fun.
I have been married to Mark, my college sweetheart, since 1986. We are in the strange stage of emptying our "nest"as our 4 children grow up! We have a married son in DeKalb, a daughter who just moved to Columbus, OH, a son at Wheaton College, and a daughter starting her first year at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Our family enjoys running, playing games and vacationing in Northern Minnesota. The girls and I love doing art. Our 2 dogs, Ziva and Brady, keep us entertained and enjoying the outdoors.
I truly look forward to getting to know your child and family as we work together this year!
