  • Mileage Club Is Off and Running!

Mileage Club at Washington School kicked off on September 11 thanks to our new Chairperson, Jessica Delaney. This Club offers a fun way for the students to spend their recess. Designed to promote the enjoyment of physical activity, Mileage Club encourages students to move more and learn healthy fitness routines. Laps completed by club members are tracked for both individuals and for the group as a whole. Currently, students earn a popsicle stick for each lap they run around the blacktop. After a student completes 30 laps, his or her 30 sticks are exchanged for a toe token. Jessica is already exploring new and exciting options to bring new a renewed energy to the program. Watch for details in the coming weeks.

The club runs Mondays and Thursdays during recess until Thanksgiving Break and then will resume in the Spring. Volunteers are at school from 11:50AM to 1:05PM, and can choose the day or days of the week, the frequency (once a week, twice a month, etc.), and the season or seasons that works best for them. Thank you to Jessica for making this program happen. If you’re interested in helping or would like to learn more, please click to contact Jessica directly.
