Washington Elementary School provides screenings focused on hearing, vision and dental needs to specific student populations and in response to parent requests during the school year. PTA provides volunteer support for these efforts that encourage student wellness. Volunteers help bring children to and from classes, and supervise children waiting to be screened. On Wednesday, September 20, Washington conducted its annual Hearing and Vision Screening. Thanks to Judith Zapf, PTA’s Health Screenings Chairperson who coordinated volunteer support and to the parents who helped with this important project: John Czechowicz, Kathy Radojkovic, and Clariza Varney.
Hearing and Vision Re-Screens will be conducted on Wednesday, October 4; and we would welcome additional help. Typically there are two shifts with two volunteers each. The first shift is from 9:15AM to noon and the second shift is 1:15PM until 3:15PM. Depending on the number of students being screened, shifts may end early and occasionally the afternoon volunteers are not needed.
