The 30-day carryover of meal benefit eligibility from the 2021-2022 school year expired on September 30, 2022. If your student's eligibility status for free meals or milk or reduced-price meals is based on the prior school year’s direct certification eligibility or approved Household Eligibility Application, please note that we are unable to provide further meal/milk benefits unless you complete a Household Eligibility Application with the required information for the current school year. Please complete and submit the enclosed Household Eligibility Application to your oldest student's school as soon as possible so your new eligibility may be determined.

Families of students who are directly certified receive a Direct Certification Notification letter. Families of these students do NOT need to complete a Household Eligibility Application form OR an Application for Fee Waiver.
NON-DIRECTLY CERTIFIED STUDENTS:
Families who do not directly certify for free and reduced lunch through the State of Illinois, but would like to apply for free and reduced meals, must complete the Household Eligibility Application (HEA). Eligibility for free or reduced meals is only applicable to the year in which the application is submitted. Students who are not approved for free or reduced priced meals through the HEA or are not directly certified as of July 1, 2022 or later, will be charged for meals and food service items beginning the first day of school on August 17, 2022. Please know that this is applicable to all students, even if they qualified for free or reduced priced meals in previous school years.
IMPORTANT- Parents or guardians MUST either scan the document itself and email it to your school; bring the original HEA to the oldest student’s school; or mail the completed HEA to the oldest student’s school. Unacceptable versions, including blurry documents and photographs of documents that are converted to PDF format, will be returned.
