Driver Education Placement Update - 2022-2023 School Year

The Secretary of State's Office is now taking appointments at select DMV's.  If you or a parent need to visit the DMV in the future for a License Renewal or First Time License you can now use this bar code to set up an appointment the day of your visit. (Elgin still does not require an appointment). - Driver Education Department

Driver Education Placement - 2022/2023 School Year

Placements for the upcoming school year for both 1st and 2nd semester Driver Education classes have been finalized based on student birthdays. If your student requested Driver Education during our Course Selection process, they can confirm placement into 1st (060235) or 2nd (060236) semester under the "Course Request" link in StudentVue. Parents of students shifted to a waitlist due to not receiving a spot were sent a google form by email with this notification. Please check the email on file with us in your ParentVue account if you have not yet responded to that google form.

Please remember that per the State of Illinois requirements, students must pass eight semester courses in the two consecutive semesters leading into their Driver Education enrollment to remain eligible for the class. It is advisable for any students failing courses to get help through our Resource Center and teacher support in the next few weeks to raise all of their academic grades to earn credit.

Please also note that all student fees and outstanding obligations on your MySchoolBucks online account must be paid in full prior to the first day of the semester for a student to remain enrolled in our Driver Education program. If you have questions on any fees noted on your account, please contact Ms. JoAnn Hogan, School Treasurer, at (630) 784-7301.

Questions about applying for a possible fee waiver for the upcoming school year can be directed to Ms. Kristen McAleer at (630) 784-7317 as well.

Further questions on the 2022/2023 Driver Education placements can be directed to Ms. Kim Wittersheim (Counselor) at or (630) 784-7331.

1st Semester Driver Education Early Bird Permit Test Option

All students confirmed for a first semester Driver Education course placement will be receiving an email near the end of May inviting them to join an Early Bird Permit Test Google Classroom to begin studying for the July Early Bird Permit Test.

According to the State of Illinois, students who are at least 15 years of age are eligible to sit for their driving permit test "30 days prior to active participation in a Driver Education course." All Early Bird Permit Testing information will be posted in the Google Classroom for enrolled students and parents who are interested. It is highly recommended that all of our enrolled 1st semester Driver Education students who are eligible for the Early Bird Permit Option (again, must be 15 years by the July testing window dates) take advantage of this opportunity, as all students must hold their permit for a minimum of 9 months prior to getting a license. That 9-month window will begin once a permit is officially made at a state facility. Students with their permit issued through this Early Bird Permit Option will be able to begin practicing with parents and logging hours prior to the semester beginning.

Any student enrolled in a 1st semester Driver Education course with us who does not choose to partake in the Early Bird Permit Option should still accept the Google Classroom for all study materials as they will sit for their test immediately once the semester begins in August.

Questions about this process can be directed to Ms. Kim Wittersheim (Counselor) at or (630) 784-7331 until the end of the year. Any continued questions during the summer should be directed to Mr. Michael Oleszek (Instructor) at or Mr. David Eaton (Instructor) at
