Battle of the Books

This year, Lincoln's Battle of the Books team finished 3rd out of 12 schools in our community. Way to go, Wildcats! We celebrated our excellent season with a doughnut party - thank you, Lincoln PTA.

Five of our team members read the ENTIRE list of battle books this year - that's 40 books! A special shout-out to Ella Marshall, Nathaniel Winsor, Shaddai M., Lucas J., Jack S., and Donbosco L. All team members have until April 14th to finish all 40 books in order to be eligible for a pizza party prize.

Incoming 4th and 5th graders: the reading list for the 2023-2024 season will be available through the Wheaton Public Library in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Battle of the Books teams from Wheaton-area schools read from a pre-selected list of books, meet to discuss and practice trivia-style questions about literature, and compete in a four-round book trivia bowl versus other area schools in January and February.

Battle of the Books

The 2023/2024 Book List is Coming Soon!

The Battle of the Books is a club for 4th and 5th graders.  They meet every Monday in the LLC from 8:15 am - 9:05 am.

Begun at the Wheaton Public Library in 1987, the library's Battle of the Books program challenges local 4th and 5th grade students to read and become familiar with a wide variety of books. Book lists are put together by the Youth Services librarians and alternate every other year with some additions each season.   Scoresheets and books list can be found on the Wheaton Public Library's website.
