Thank you to Representative Janet Yang Rohr for visiting Johnson Elementary to tour the school's new collaborative learning center, made possible, partly due to a State grant her office was able to help the District secure. #YourCommunitySchools

Today, we cut the ribbon on a brand new playground at Bower Elementary! Thank you to 5th grader Maverick and Warrenville Mayor Brummel for helping us out! This new playground was one of many projects across the District this summer, totaling $10M in investment. #YourCommunitySchools

Washington Elementary teacher Beth Miller won this year's back-to-school fill-the-teacher wishlist contest through 103.5 Kiss FM! As part of this promotion, Mrs. Miller has $500 in supplies for her classroom and students! #YourCommunitySchools

District 200 School Community,
We have received a few emails from families asking about air conditioning on our buses. Our buses do not have air conditioning unless your child has a health plan that requires transportation on an air-conditioned bus. Drivers will open windows to promote air circulation and students are encouraged to dress for the weather. If your child does not tolerate heat well, parents may want to consider driving to/from school or carpooling later this week.
We also encourage families to hydrate outside of school hours and send students to school with water bottles. Parents with specific concerns regarding their own child(ren) may contact their child’s teacher and/or principal.
We have pasted the email we sent out earlier today below for reference.
Sincerely,
District 200

District 200 School Community,
Forecasts for Wednesday, August 23, and Thursday, August 24, are predicting temperatures in the high 90s and possibly into the 100s. We want to inform you about our plans for ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff during these periods of high heat.
Our schools will use the Child Care Weather Chart below to determine if it is safe for students to go outdoors for recess, P.E. class, or similar activities. If a combination of temperature and humidity results in a heat index in the red category, students will remain indoors.
Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South High Schools will follow guidance from the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). Both of the high schools will provide direct communication to students and families regarding modifications to practices, contests, and game schedules. All middle schools will follow the weather chart recommendations and will communicate directly to their school communities about modifications to their athletic practices.
In addition to monitoring the weather, beginning this evening, all District 200 schools will continuously run all air conditioning units through Friday evening to ensure our schools can maintain a comfortable temperature for students and staff.
Parents with specific concerns regarding their own child(ren) may contact their child’s teacher and/or principal.
Sincerely,
District 200

Of the $10M in facilities projects across the District, $4m+ was invested at Lowell for a new HVAC system, ceiling, lights, and the best part - a new playground, basketball court, and boards! Thank you to the school PTA for supporting the basketball project. We had a rainy but fun ribbon cutting this week! #YourCommunitySchools
