When we return to school on Tuesday, plan on coming to the boys volleyball game against Edison here at Hubble! We are hoping to pack the gym with as many students as possible for the games! There will be a raffle for a box of takis for all students who attend the game – all you have to do is show up and watch!

Silverstrings working hard this morning!

Some of our 8th grade students have partnered with a kindergarten class at Johnson Elementary School to work together as reading buddies. Students visit Johnson once each quarter to read, work on vocabulary, and bond with our kindergarten friends. This past December we visited to share stories of the Gingerbread Man and then made cookies together. This quarter we will do an egg hunt with sight words to help our kindergarten buddies learn to read.

The annual Hubble Dodgeball Tournament was last night. Congratulations to the Ninjas on their tournament championship. Thank you to everyone who came out to play and watch!

We want to give a special shoutout to all the hard working members of the Student Ambassador Leadership Team (SALT)!
SALT is a club for students that want to grow in their leadership skills. Students learn about servant leadership through team building, discussion, and building a program that benefits our Hubble community as well as a local non-profit organization that serves our community. This club opens at the beginning of the year and requires students to apply for acceptance. Students also must commit to participation in the program throughout the year.
Last week the SALT team hosted the Hubble Havok talent show! This event was created, developed, written, promoted, and implemented all by the student members of this club. The students were able to raise over $1200 as well as provide 20 toys for the Ronald McDonald House in addition to providing a platform for Hubble students to display their talents.
While Ms Virga and Mr Simpson act as a coaches throughout the year, the SALT members put in a great deal of effort to make sure events like Hubble Havok are a success.
Thank you SALT members for all you do for our Hubble community!

Congratulations to all the performers at Hubble Havok tonight! Thanks to you, we were able to raise over $1000 and provide 20 brand new toys for the Ronald McDonald House! We are proud of each one of you for challenging yourself to be great!

Yet another change to girls basketball and boys volleyball tryouts!
The final day of girls basketball tryouts will take place tomorrow, Wednesday Jan 24th from 3-5pm.
Boys Volleyball will have their meeting in the tile gym on Wednesday Jan 24th and then have the two days of tryouts on Thursday and Friday. Thursday will be 3-5pm and Friday will be from 3-5:30 pm.

Due to the freezing rain and icy road conditions, especially on side streets and untreated surfaces, all District 200 schools will engage in an e-learning day today, Jan. 23.
Students in grades 1-12 will follow the e-learning schedule that can be found here. All students should login to Google Classroom by 9 a.m. to receive assignments and Google Meets links. Kindergarten and early childhood students should follow the plan that has been communicated by their teacher.
Coaches and/or sponsors communicate the status of any after school or evening activities with families later today.
Barring any additional travel challenges or inclement weather, school will be back in session on Wednesday, Jan. 24. With that said, we encourage you to continue monitoring e-mail, social media and the district’s family of websites for updates about the weather and its impact on our operations.
We recognize that this month has brought a number of severe weather events that have forced us to engage in e-learning, which creates additional challenges for our parents/guardians, students and staff. Your understanding, cooperation and resilience are greatly appreciated as we navigate these challenges together.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher(s) with any questions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeff Schuler
Superintendent of Schools
Community Unit School District 200

Due to the Wind Chill Warning that has been extended through noon on Tuesday, Jan. 16, all District 200 schools will engage in an e-learning day tomorrow, Jan. 16. This decision was made in consultation and coordination with a number of our district partners because the combination of the temperature and wind speed will create wind chills that have a risk of frostbite within 10 minutes of exposure.
Students in grades 1-12 will follow the e-learning schedule that can be found here. All students should login to Google Classroom by 9 a.m. to receive assignments and Google Meets links. Additionally, the third quarter for middle schools begins on Jan. 16. At the beginning of each quarter, there are students that begin new electives. With this in mind, we have determined that students starting a new elective this quarter will not meet on Jan. 16 due to e-learning.
