The Student Action Leadership Team (SALT) is a club for students that want to grow in their leadership skills. Students learn about servant leadership through team building, discussion and building a program that benefits our Hubble community as well as a local non-profit organization that serves our community. This club opens soon and requires students to apply for acceptance into the club. Students also must agree to remain engaged in the program throughout the year. Come to our info meeting on Monday, September 9th after school to check it out!

With a special focus on learning acceleration, we’ve significantly expanded our programming based on our Portrait of a Graduate, nearly quadrupled dual credit opportunities, and continued to develop our innovative Career Pathways Program all in an effort to inspire, educate, challenge and support all students to reach their highest level of learning and personal development. Now, we need to address the significant needs at three of our four middle schools: Franklin, Monroe, and Edison. Learn about the plan to enhance our middle schools at our upcoming town hall meetings. Our town halls are an opportunity to hear directly about the benefits of the $151.5 million referendum and how it will positively impact our students and community. After a short overview of the proposed plans, community members will be able to tour the schools.

The WWS Tiger football team opens the season tonight against Glenbard South at Red Grange Field. While we appreciate that Hubble students want to support the tigers, everyone must do so appropriately and respectfully. All elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by an adult and must sit with their parents/guardian or in the middle school section by the north end zone. Enjoy the game, but do so while respecting others and the grounds of WWS!

Our intramural season began this week! Intramurals are a great way for students to get involved in athletics without the commitment of interscholastic competitions. Intramurals run throughout the year, beginning with fitness club and flag football this fall.

And the fall play is....Transyl-Mania Cue the lightning! Cue the thunder! This spooky comedy contains the next generation of traditional Halloween monsters, as well as several humans who have wandered into their school, and mania ensues. With plenty of fun acting parts to go around, and extensive designs for the set, costumes, hair, and makeup this is a great opportunity for Hubble students to show off their talents! There are vampires, mummies, werewolves, zombies, witches, Frankenstein’s daughter, the Invisible Man’s son, and even the Phantom of the Opera’s kid, all of them struggling to live up to their parents’ legendary examples. Far more silly than spooky, this comedy delivers both loads of laughs and a gentle message about befriending those who are different from us. Transyl-Mania was written by Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus.
