Mrs. Mary Fritsch was a beloved teacher in District 200 for over 40 years, having taught mostly at Sandburg Elementary. When she sadly passed in 2022, her family wanted to honor her legacy and directed all memorial donations to the Student Excellence Foundation for a future project at Sandburg. Earlier this week, a new reading nook in Sandburg's library was dedicated in her honor, as Mrs. Fritsch was known for her love of teaching and reading. We think it's safe to say that the new nook is kid-approved! Thank you, Fritsch Family and Student Excellence Foundation! #YourCommunitySchools

What a great message from a bulletin board at Washington Elementary! Students who attend school regularly typically demonstrate higher learning outcomes than those with poor attendance. Being present each day affords students all the important experiences that come with attending school, such as friendships, clubs, and activities. Students also learn responsibility and work ethic through consistent attendance. #YourCommunitySchools
