Yesterday, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released a list of educators who have been named recipients of their Those Who Excel Award.
We are incredibly proud and excited to share that CUSD 200 Psychology Department Chair Dr. John Di Sanza was given an Award of Excellence under the Student Support Personnel category!
To receive the Award of Excellence, the most prestigious of the Those Who Excel honors, educators must have demonstrated a commitment to equity and to the success of all students. They regularly collaborate with colleagues, students, and families to create positive school cultures. They are lifelong learners who connect their schools to the community at large and who inspire other education professionals within and beyond their schools.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Di Sanza on this well-deserved recognition! #YourCommunitySchools

At the January Board Meeting, Dr. Schuler recognized community member Mr. Jae Haas for his involvement in the high school Business INCubator Program. Eight years ago, Mr. Haas pitched the idea of bringing Business INCubator to CUSD 200, and has played an instrumental role in the program every year since.
From spearheading the idea to bring this to our community, he has also helped establish the Board of Directors (the sharks), contributed funding used for awards and product development, hosts events to recruit board members, mentors, and coaches student teams, organizes judges for the pitch competitions, and provides ongoing guidance to our teachers.
On behalf of the CUSD 200 community, we thank Mr. Haas for helping us get this program started, and for his dedication to help it grow over the years. His involvement and commitment to the INCubator program is invaluable to our students, staff and schools.
Mr. Haas was presented with a certificate of appreciation for being a valued community partner. #YourCommunitySchools

#TBT Let's see what was happening at Wheaton Warrenville Middle School in 1989. #YourCommunitySchools

Due to the winter weather conditions that are projected to develop throughout the day tomorrow, all Community Unit School District 200 schools will engage in an E-Learning day tomorrow, February 12. After closely monitoring the weather forecast for our area and working with our district partners and other surrounding school districts in DuPage County, we have made this decision out of an abundance of caution as we are concerned about the snow’s impact on transportation in the afternoon.
Please check your email or cusd200.org for more information.

The Wheaton Co-OP Girls Gymnastics Team won the IHSA Regional Championship on February 4. The team will advance to Sectionals on February 12 at Glenbard West. This week's Classroom Close-Up highlights Ms. Dana Eden’s Essentials class at Wheaton North High School. In CUSD200, the Essentials program emphasizes daily life skills, functional academics, community awareness, recreational and leisure activities, and vocational tasks.
Students in Ms. Eden’s class are given the opportunity to participate in community trips twice a week, helping them build independence while honing communication, social, and problem-solving skills. This week, they visited Mariano's in Wheaton to shop for ingredients for upcoming class cooking projects. During the trip, students engaged their critical thinking skills to locate items on their shopping lists, utilized social skills to ask for assistance and navigate the busy store, and practiced math skills to stay within their budget while being mindful of their surroundings. #YourCommunitySchools

Recently, Edison Middle School's eighth grade Entrepreneurship Expo students showcased their innovative ideas, pitching them to a panel of business leaders, including Wheaton Mayor Phil Suess, and received invaluable feedback.
The expo served as the capstone project for the eighth-grade Entrepreneurship elective, with students presenting their ideas and answering thoughtful questions from judges. Parents and guardians joined us to celebrate the creativity and hard work of these future entrepreneurs. #YourCommunitySchools
